W’Bank working with 21 states to boost IGR: The World Bank has said it is currently providing technical support to the 21 state governments in the area of internally generated revenue and public financial management. The Lead Financial Management Specialist, World Bank, Manuel Vargas, said this when he led a team on a visit to the Fiscal Responsibility Commission on the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan. Vargas added that the World Bank would also provide technical support for them in the area of tax reforms, budget planning and execution, accounting expenditure control and financial reporting.
All states demanding mining licences – FG: Virtually all state governments in the country have demanded for mining licences from the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development in the last one year, the federal government (FG) has said. It stated that various companies and corporations that were associated with state governments had been given licences to start mining mineral resources in their domains. The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi, disclosed this at the ongoing 6th Sustainability in the Extractive Industries’ Conference organised by CSR-in-Action on Thursday in Abuja.
