2019: APC moves to win national, state assembly seats in Anambra State

AWKA—The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Anambra State has begun moves aimed at winning the National Assembly and State House of Assembly seats in the state during the 2019 general elections.
At the stakeholders meeting for Anambra, South Senatorial zone held in Nnewi, the party said there were indications that many legislators from other political parties would defect to APC as the election drew near. State chairman of the party, Mr. Emeka Ibeh, in a goodwill message he sent to the meeting, urged APC members not to relent in membership drive, advising them “not to hesitate to accept those wanting to join the party from other political parties.”
According to him, “the leadership of the party is already fashioning ways of repositioning APC in the South East geo-political zone ahead of the elections,” explaining that the Nnewi meeting was put together to provide a platform for major stakeholders and leaders of the party in the area to brainstorm on the way forward.
The deputy governorship candidate of the party in the November 18, 2017 election, Mr. Dozie Ikedife (Jnr.), who also addressed the participants, emphasized the need for peace, unity and cohesion among the stakeholders in the zone to be able to achieve the desired objective.
He observed that “there is serious work to be done to ensure stability in the party to be in a position to deliver APC, President Muhammadu Buhari and all APC candidates from the zone in the forthcoming general elections.”
In his speech, the zonal chairman of the party, Mr Izuchukwu Okeke promised a level playing ground for all aspirants and urged APC members to go into the field for the great task ahead.

PDP on Life Support Machine, Says APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is down and desperately seeking for help from a coalition to recover.
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi, APC accused the PDP of trying to hide its irredeemably bad image under the heap of a new coalition.

“After three years in the wilderness, the PDP is understandably excited with possibility of hiding its irredeemably bad image under the heap of a new coalition.
“Like the vulture, PDP sees every altercation as a potential opportunity for a feast.
“If PDP is not alleging wild conspiracies, they are threatening to boycott elections or announcing fake defections. What is clear with all these is that no matter how long a leopard lives, it cannot change its spots,” it said.
APC however, lampooned PDP for failing to put its house in order, a situation that led to the mass exodus which crippled the party.

The ruling party said on its part,  it was only acting responsibly by seeking to reconcile with aggrieved members.
“What President Muhammadu Buhari and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of our party are doing, persuading every aggrieved member not to leave the Party, is what responsible and sensible party leaders would do. Party politics is a game of number.
“And that game is addition. If the PDP had the same presence of mind in 2015, perhaps the calamity that befell them would have been averted.

“We challenge the PDP to face Nigerians on their own merit in 2019 and stop shopping around for supporters,” it said.

Osun 2018: APC plotting to disrupt our primary — PDP

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, Hon Soji Adagunodo has alleged plans by the APC to disrupt the PDP governorship primaries holding on Saturday.
Adagunodo in a statement in Osogbo yesterday said top chieftains of the APC allegedly held several meetings with notorious thugs in a location in the State to hatch plans of causing mayhem during the PDP primaries. He said the desperate plans of the APC was borne out of the party’s fears about what a successful PDP primary election portends for the APC in the governorship election holding in September.
He said the desperate plans of the APC was borne out of the party’s fears about what a successful PDP primary election portends for the APC in the governorship election holding in September.
He, therefore, called on the State Commissioner of police, the Director of the State Security Service, the Commandant of the Civil defence Corp and other security agencies to ensure maximum security before and during the exercise which will involve over 3000 party members.
The PDP chairman also urged the security agencies to beam their searchlight on some chieftains of the APC who have been notorious for perpetrating violence using hoodlums often referred to as ‘State Boys’ by Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
