The Kebbi State Government says it will partner with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) to address the menace of drug abuse and circulation of fake drugs in the state.
The state Head of Service, Alhaji Abubakar Idris, made this known when he received officials of the society led by its National President, Alhaji Ahmad Yakasai, during an advocacy visit in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
“We will work closely with you in order to address the menace of drug abuse and circulation of fake drugs in the state,” he said.
Idris expressed dismay over the proliferation of traditional herbalists as well as medicine stores manned by unprofessional traders in the state.
He assured the officials of the state government’s commitment to work with them towards enhancing their profession and promoting the health sector in the state.
Yakasai had earlier advocated for the setting up of a committee that would address the menace.
He assured that the society would not relent in its efforts to ensure the development of the health sector and curtailment of fake drugs in the state.
“The society is ever ready to partner with state governments to address the menace of drug abuse and fake drugs in our markets and pharmaceutical stores,” he assured.
